Here’s the latest from Amplify this week: on Friday, Amplify was once again named among the top accelerators in the country, earning “Platinum” status alongside programs like Y Combinator, 500 Startups, Techstars, and four other accelerators nationwide. The rankings were determined based on private company metrics submitted by accelerators such as fundraising, valuations, survival, and exit size. The rankings also considered founder satisfaction by surveying the founders of startups who graduated from the accelerator programs.

Yesterday, FloQast announced a $6.5 million Series A round led by Polaris Partners and Toba Capital, with participation from Amplify.LA, Wavemaker and Danmar. FloQast builds SaaS accounting software for internal accounting departments. Commenting on the round, Gary Stewart, who is joining the board on behalf of Polaris, wrote that “the platform is well positioned to be the system of record for accounting departments nationwide, with opportunities to expand functionality to other disciplines and processes that weigh heavily on finance organizations.”

Last Monday, we held our 7th LA Showcase at Amplify. The LA showcase is an invite only event for out of town investors to meet one-on-one with a curated set of the top Amplify and LA based startups. In total, we facilitated 115 private meetings between 20 LA companies and 20 out of town investors. Andreessen Horowitz, Canaan, Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia, Sherpa, Slow Ventures, and Tim Draper were among those in attendance. The day ended with an intimate cocktail gala at the Hotel Erwin in Venice Beach.

We also hosted a post-showcase beer-pong tournament for all Amplify and showcase companies. The team from Repost took home the big prize (bragging-rights) after an intense triple overtime championship match against Crexi. Thank you to Fenwick & West, Microsoft, Silicon Valley Bank, and TriNet for making the post showcase festivities possible.

In other Amplify company news, Magnetic Magazine featured an in-depth interview with Repost founders Jeff Ponchick and Joey Mason on their efforts to monetize Soundcloud artists.

Little Labs, another Amplify company, was featured on TechCrunch last week for launching their popular Android Wear app, Facer, on iOS.
