Overview of the Los Angeles Tech & Venture Scene

A few months ago, we published a presentation about the state of the LA tech scene. The goal was to provide a comprehensive narrative of the LA tech and venture landscape as it stands in 2016. That not only means relevant stats and figures, but also a story about how LA tech has emerged over the last 15 years, and where (we think) it’s headed. We were blown away by the public response when we first published these slides, and continue to receive positive feedback now even months later, so we’re proud that we were able to offer a helpful perspective on LA.

We just updated the deck so that it reflects some recent events and includes more relevant data that’s come our way since — for example, the fact that LA startups attract more outside capital than any other U.S. metro (on slide 3).

This deck will introduce you to all the major players, startups and investors in LA tech, as well as the history and future evolution of tech in this city. We firmly believe that LA has truly emerged as a world-class tech center, and are proud to be part of it! We hope this deck is everything you’ll need to know to start your company or begin investing in LA.
